Project: Smart Farming using Internet of Things (IoT)
What is smart farming?
Smart farming is a modern farm management concept with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to increase the productivity in agriculture. With the use of smart farming, farmers can effectively use water, fertilizers, pesticides and other resources to increase the quality and quantity of their crops.
Smart Farming Technologies:
Sensors: Soil, water, light, humidity, temperature management
Software: IoT Cloud Platforms specific to various use cases
Connectivity: Cellular, LoRa, SigFox, NB-IoT, WiFi,etc.
Location: GPS, Satellite, etc.
Robotics: Drones, Connected tractors, processing facilities, etc.
Data analytics: Data Analysis and Applying machine Learning for forecasting or Prediction
Project Aim:
The aim is to build an IoT based Smart Farming technology for real time monitoring of farm data such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, UV index, and IR. The real time data from the farmland help farmers to take necessary steps to optimize resources (labor, water and fertilizers) and increasing their crop yields. The technology proposed in this project uses ESP32 based Node MCU, breadboard, DHT11 Temperature and Humidity
Sensor, Soil Moisture Sensor, SI1145 Digital UV Index / IR / Visible Light Sensor, Jumper wires, LEDs and other electronic components. We use Blynk APP for data visualization and control. Farmers receives notifications through sms, email and push notifications about their farm conditions.
