What is smart presence detection system?

The Smart PIR Motion Sensors react to anyone that moves. Receive an alert on your phone whenever it detects motion or movement, so you can take action at once.

A smart presence detection system is IoT based system, with the implementation of a PIR Motion sensor and its connection through an app called Blynk, which allows the user to receive notifications every time the sensor detects the human presence.

Technologies /commercial products available

Insteon: Insteon is a company that designs and produces devices for their implementation on homes to make them smart. The concept is based on having a central hub as a controller to link every sensor and other controllable devices to it, using Wi-Fi. There is also an Insteon app that allows the user to configure the settings of each device, with the aim of having them personalized. The app permits the configuration of schedules for lights or other devices, the building of scenes that integrate different devices to perform tasks simultaneously and even receive notifications when sensors perform certain detection.

SmartThings: SmartThings is a branch of the Samsung company, that designs interesting devices that can be implemented in a home to make it smart. They have some sensors like an arrival sensor, a water leak sensor, a motion sensor and a multipurpose sensor, as well as smart power outlets (that can control the powering of plugged devices), and hubs, with Connect Home routers to ensure the extension of Wi-Fi around the house and a SmartThings Hub, that serves as the connection bridge with the sensors and the SmartThings app, that can be downloaded for free into any mobile device. Additional configurations can be made using the app, to control the notifications and have an overview of the latest alarms from the device

Project Aim

In this project, the passive infrared motion sensor (PIR) is used to detect motion. To design IoT based PIR sensor, we used NodeMCU (ESP8266) wifi based board. WiFi is used to connect device to network and then to the Blynk cloud. Motion sensor detects motion or movement and sends text alerts or push notifications or email alerts to the concerned user when an intrusion is detected. Sensor nodes which are implanted in every room send data to the center node when motion is detected.
